Olivia: My dad said I should ask if I could call them Uncle Buzz and Uncle Dale but I said, “no way!” That would be too weird. I already have two Uncle Dales.

Connie: At first I thought Buzz was wearing a wig.

Olivia: I know, right?

Connie: We were a little nervous when they started us asking us questions at the end of the interview.

Olivia: Right after I interviewed Of Monsters and Men we had to go next door to interview Roadkill Ghost Choir. They were playing a concert with Dead Confederate. I forgot that Connie and I interviewed Dead Confederate – I didn’t recognize them!

Olivia: Connie and I really wanted to interview Of Monsters and Men ever since we heard they were coming to Columbus. We didn’t really think we were going to be able to so we were excited when my dad said they said “yes”. But Connie was playing in a tennis tournament and she did really good and had to play in the finals so she couldn’t come do this interview with me. I couldn’t believe how many people were in line for the concert. It was the most people I’ve ever seen waiting for a concert.

Olivia: The people that work at The Basement set this up for us like we were on a TV show.

Connie: We felt like professional interviewers! And we even memorized our questions.

Olivia: I think Dead Confederate was funny. They made us laugh a lot during the interview.

Olivia: My dad always has me do homework before we interview bands. He makes me listen to a few songs. When he started playing ‘Hello’, I started singing along. He was surprised that I knew it but I told him that I’ve heard it on the radio. I thought it was neat that I got to interview a band that I knew even though when I heard the song on the radio, I didn’t know it was Dragonette.

The Revival Tour swung through Ohio in April and Connie and Olivia were able to chat with two of the performers – Jenny Owen Youngs and Dave Hause.

Connie: Jenny and Dave were really nice to us.

Olivia: I can’t believe I messed up and said “Jessie Owens Young”!!!!

Connie: It’s okay, I don’t think anybody notice.

Olivia: Dave’s answers were funny, like when he said he was in Jenny Owens Young’s band.

Connie: We did the interview with Guards outside but it was pretty cold. Maybe we should have gone inside to do it.

Olivia: And it was raining a little bit but we were able to sit under some sort of tent thing.

Connie: The drummer, Loren, was watching the first part of the interview but then he came and answered some questions.

Olivia: After we finished our interview, Kaylie interviewed us about who our favorite interviews were with.

Connie: We got to stay and watch Guards’ concert. They were good.

Olivia: We try to listen to every band we are going to interview before we interview them. My dad wouldn’t let us watch a video by the Dillinger Escape Plan. He said it was too bloody!

Connie: This music is kind of noisy and scary.

Olivia: But Ben was really funny.

Connie: Yeah. And they had a dog on the tour bus with them that they brought out before we did the interview. We wanted to interview the dog!

Connie: I told my dad that I wanted to interview the band that sings ‘Tallulah’ and he said, “Guess what? You ARE going to interview them.” I was really excited.

Olivia: I heard ‘Tallulah’ on the radio but I didn’t know who sang it until my dad told me.

Connie: It was cool getting to interview a band that we like.

Olivia: And we also got to interview Von Grey that day. You can see them on the stage in the background of this interview.

Olivia: We had to do this interview twice. The first time we did it it was really loud – there was a DJ playing music – and we couldn’t really hear the Cheatahs answers.

Connie: After we were done my dad listened to the interview and we found out the microphone didn’t work.

Olivia: We went back to The Basement (the club where Cheatahs were performing) and asked if we could interview them again. They said ‘yes’.

Connie: This one was shorter because we didn’t have a lot of time. And we didn’t want to ask them the same questions we asked them the first time we interviewed them.

Olivia: My dad says this is one of his favorite bands and he was really happy we got to interview them.
